Avatar: The Last Airbender is an epic animated series that follows the journey of Aang, the last Airbender and Avatar, who must master all four elements to restore balance to the world. Alongside his friends Katara, Sokka and Toph, Aang embarks on a quest to defeat the tyrannical Fire Nation and bring harmony to a world torn by war. Filled with rich lore, complex characters and themes of friendship, redemption, and self-discovery, the series captivates audiences with its compelling storytelling.
The cartoon version of Avatar: The Last Airbender was a huge hit on release and had fans either eagerly await the arrival of the live action TV series or not want one made at all as they were scared it would not live up the expectations.
That day has come, and the live action TV series was recently released on Netflix.
My thoughts on the live action:
I thoroughly enjoyed the live action.
Although, it will never beat the original cartoon. This was an easy watch and with all characters accounted for (minus Toph). Plus, I think everyone was wanting to see Appa in his furry, fluffy and live action giant glory and did not disappoint (for me at least).
On the other hand, there is a mixed bag response from critics on the internet.
Many outraged by the casting of characters or that the storyline has not done justice to the original cartoon. You definitely can make your own judgement.
Although, it seems that the show has been loved enough to be renewed for season 2 and 3! Keep your eyes peeled for more air bending to come!
