Are you ready to try reading an e-book or listening to an e-audiobook?
Maybe you’ve avoided them until now? You prefer a real book in your hands, you don’t want to read from a screen or you don’t want to have to buy an e-reader. Yes, at the Library we’ve heard them all!
But did you know that some new titles are published ONLY in electronic form? And you may not need a new device! You can now access e-books and e-audiobooks from your iPad, tablet, computer, laptop or mobile phone.
When going on holidays, these e-resources really come in handy. You can download multiple titles to take away with you, without needing to carry all those heavy books! And if you download an e-audiobook before going on a road trip, you can then Bluetooth the story to your car stereo!
Don’t worry, libraries will continue to provide books in print.
As with many other new technologies, the Library’s e-resources are in addition to the choice of reading materials that we provide. We still have real (print) books, magazines and newspapers if that is your preference.
But why not try an e-book or e-audiobook, just to compare?
You could listen to a story while you drive, or cook, or tinker in your shed or garden. You could read in bed without the need for a reading light. You can adjust the font size to as large as you like, and maybe even read without wearing glasses. You could transform your daily commute into an opportunity to listen to a great book. Or imagine listening to a book that’s entertaining for the whole family on a long drive.
We have free video streaming too! Install the Kanopy app to access movies, series and even educational courses.
My e-readers play music and can read my book to me. The only paper book I have that does that was bought years ago for my children.
